Access to Orlando, FL
Orlando, for all its attractions, is at the crossroads
of the Florida Turnpike and I-4 of the Interstate Highway
System in central Florida. Visitors to Orlando arrive
by air and by car.
Arriving by air? The Orlando International Airport
is at the intersection of the Bee Line Extension and
Semoran Blvd., southeast of downtown Orlando. The Bee
Line Expressway is the major east-west artery stretching
from Interstate 4 in Orlando, 40 miles east to Cocoa
Beach and Cape Canaveral. From the airport it is about
15 miles west down the Bee-Line to I-4 which intersects
about four miles north of Lake Buena Vista and Disney
World and five miles south of Universal Studios. Downtown
Orlando lies about 10 miles northwest of the airport.
Car rentals are readily available at the airport.
The major northwest to southeast highway route through
central Florida is the Florida's Turnpike, which
connects with another northeast to southwest artery
I-4 within the Orlando city limits.
There are several toll-roads that run throughout the
Orlando area which should be used during peak travel
times to avoid traffic problems. These include the
Bee-Line Expressway and Connector, the Central Florida
Greenway, the Florida's Turnpike and the Holland East-West
Expressway.
